ED-RED 2023-2024 Legislative Initiatives
Our legislative initiatives are set by our Executive Board and team each year. The initiatives reflect the work being done in our districts and by our Working and Advocacy Committees. This year we have determined the following three initiatives to be worked on during this legislative session with our local ED-RED Legislators.
New Arrival Student Funding
Creates a New Arrival Student Grant Program which would provide school districts with the funds to support the needs of immigrant students, regardless of immigrant status.
School Polling Places
Use of school buildings should be a last resort for polling and only used if approved by the school board.
Special Education Funding
Improve and make more equitable the state’s Special Education Funding to Public Schools.
